Frontstore is a commerce platform operated by 1code X (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa ("Frontstore", "we", "us"). "Frontstore" means the platform and services described here. By creating a store, or by using any part of Frontstore, you ("the merchant", "you") agree to these terms. If you're accepting on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
Frontstore gives you the tools to sell online and in person: a hosted online store, a point-of-sale, product and order management, built-in accounting, and a built-in checkout that processes card and other payments through our payment partner. We provide the software and the payment rails; the business you run on top of it is yours.
You must give accurate business and contact details, keep your login secure, and keep your information up to date. Before your store can accept live payments, you must complete identity verification (KYC) and publish the required policies. We may decline or pause an account where verification is incomplete or where we're required to by law or by our payment partners.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (currently Paystack). Funds from your sales, less applicable fees, are settled to the bank account you verify. You're responsible for honouring your own returns and refunds policy, for handling disputes and chargebacks, and for any resulting reversals. Frontstoreis not a bank and does not hold your funds beyond what's necessary to route a payment.
Reversals. If a transaction is reversed — whether through a chargeback, a customer dispute, or fraud, and whether the payment was local or international — the full amount is charged back to Frontstore by the payment provider, and you remain liable for it. We may recover it from your available balance, set it off against future payouts, invoice you for it, or charge the payment card you have on file with us — the same card used for your subscription — and we may withhold payouts while a dispute is open. By adding a card to your Frontstoreaccount you authorise us to charge it for amounts you owe us under these terms, including reversals, chargebacks and the fees associated with them. We will tell you before we charge it. Please also note that the payment provider does not refund its transaction fee on a reversed payment.
Your plan carries a monthly (or yearly) subscription fee shown on our pricing page, and a transaction fee is charged on sales processed through the built-in checkout. Fees are exclusive of any bank or payment-provider charges passed through, and we'll always show fees before you go live. We may change fees on reasonable notice.
Subscription charges are non-refundable. The yearly price is a discounted rate offered in exchange for a full year's commitment, so cancelling before the year is complete does not entitle you to a cash refund of the remaining period; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. We review accidental renewals and billing errors individually, and a yearly plan can instead be moved to monthly billing with the remaining value held as account credit — see the Cancellation Policy.
You are responsible for what you sell and how you run your store: accurate product listings and pricing, lawful products, fulfilling orders, customer service, your own returns, privacy and terms policies, and compliance with all applicable laws — including the Consumer Protection Act, POPIA, and your tax and VAT obligations to SARS. Frontstore provides tools to help (such as VAT tracking and your Books), but the filings and the responsibility remain yours.
You may not use Frontstore to sell illegal, counterfeit, stolen or prohibited goods, to commit fraud or launder money, to infringe others' rights, or in any industry our payment partners prohibit. You may not misuse, probe, overload or attempt to circumvent the platform's security.
You keep ownership of your brand, products and content. You grant us the licence needed to host, display and process it so we can run your store. 1code X (Pty) Ltd owns Frontstore, its software and brand; nothing here transfers that to you.
You can close your store at any time, without notice periods or fees — see our Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. We may suspend or terminate a store — including making it temporarily unavailable to customers — if you breach these terms, fall behind on fees, or where we reasonably believe there's fraud, legal risk, or a requirement from our payment partners. Where practical we'll give notice. Fees already due remain payable.
Each of us must handle personal information lawfully under POPIA. For your customers' data collected through your store, you are the responsible party and we act as an operator processing it on your instructions to run the service. We describe how we handle data in our privacy information.
We work hard to keep Frontstore running well, but the platform is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent allowed by law, 1code X (Pty) Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
You agree to cover 1code X (Pty) Ltd against claims arising from your products, your store, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any law.
We may update the platform and these terms as the service evolves. We'll post the current version here and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Continuing to use Frontstore after a change means you accept it.
Frontstore can answer a business's telephone, hold a conversation with the caller, answer questions from what the business has taught it, take bookings into the business's own calendar, capture the caller's details, receive documents, and hand the call to a person. A business may rename the agent, change its voice, and set its personality and knowledge.
The business is responsible for what it teaches the agent and for the accuracy of that information, for any notice or consent its callers require, for the lawfulness of what it asks the agent to say, and for honouring bookings the agent makes on its behalf.
Frontstore may not be used for unsolicited marketing calls, automated bulk or sequential dialling, or any campaign directed at people who have not asked to be contacted. South African law treats automated marketing calls as direct marketing requiring prior consent. We may suspend an account immediately for this, without refund.
Frontstore is an automated service and can misunderstand. It is not suitable as a sole channel for emergencies, medical advice, or anything where a mistake cannot be corrected. Businesses should keep a human route available for callers who need one.
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. Questions? Email us at support@frontstore.co.za.
